Oldtimer Hockey

March 19th, 2009 Ranger Bob No comments

Yah, I was at Rexall place when they filmed this! A great night and game it was. Seeing Glenn Anderson come down on a cable from the roof (of course, after they hoisted his jersey #9 to the rafter to retire it this year). Seeing Tiger Williams and Billy Smith again.. priceless! Glad I could share the night with my buddy GScratch! *Hay buddy, blog something soon eh? *

This was a “moment” when Rod Black took on Billy Smith in a shootout.

Crushing News Today!

October 17th, 2008 Ranger Bob No comments

I just got in the door from work this evening to learn that my Aunt Beverley, a “Sister” (or Nun in layman terms — more bio here) just passed away an hour before. Uhm, the news has been devastating to me and my Family to say the least.. and shocking.

I have had to be the bearer of this bad news also, going down the calling list of family and friends. As usual, Ranger Bob has doused the flames on the fire.. in mourning… service is likely to be next Wednesday… uhm.. all for now. Yah… shocking… OMG!

IN MEMORIUM – BEVERLEY SPOHN – SHE WILL BE MISSED!

Aunt Bev – Far Right. (not sure why the doll is looking up her dress)..
and Uhm.. my Wife Beverley.. the other one on left.

In Nun Costume (a.k.a. ‘The Penguin Suit’)

My Mom (L), Aunt Bev (M), and my Aunt Marlene — “Sister Power!”

Gold Prospecting

May 18th, 2008 Ranger Bob No comments

So, I figured this summer, what with owning a new Jeep and the plans to prospect for “trout” in remote places — why not bring a gold pan along this year and try my luck out for gold? I’ve always had a fascination that gold can be found right here in Edmonton on the North Saskatchewan River, and well, many of the Alberta streams I fish.

So, I am gonna look for a gold pan to pack in the back of the fly fishing vest, and in the meantime I have joined an on-line forum group here and started a new blogroll category with links to ‘gold prospecting’. I am also gonna check out the EGPA here as well.

A Map Of Alberta Streams With Gold

PS – With rising cost of gas for the Jeep, and Gold hitting an all time high… I need to find lots. =)

Oilers Prayer

April 1st, 2008 Ranger Bob No comments

Our Father who are in Rexall,
Hockey be thy name.
Thy will be done, the Cup be won,
On ice, as well as in the stands.
Give us this day our hockey sticks,
and forgive us our penalities,
as we forgive those who cross-check against us.
Lead us not into elimination
But deliver us to victory.
In the name of the fans, Lord Stanley,
and the holy Oilers.

Amen.
