Got Wasps?
So, I got a professional hitman coming in tomorrow to remove a largish wasp nest from under my front step so I can get my mail.. nay… bills again.
I hope the bastard postman that stopped mail delivery on me saw these bottles get fuller and fuller every day, and crapped his pants every time he tip-toed past my window. Meh, I haven’t been stung once by the critters.. but I am kinda surprised how many I trapped (over 200!!).
There are some great plans for ‘Thrifty Fun‘ and more Wasp Traps here. The secret ingredient I used is Fruit Punch with lotsa sugar added, and slopped all around the open end, and a spoonful of sugar to top that. Worked like a hot damn indeed!
“The Yellow Jacket is a member of the wasp and hornet family Vespidae; in Alberta the most familar example is the Western Yellowjacket: Vespula pensylvanica. There are actually twelve species of yellow jackets in Alberta and seventeen in North America. In most of North America, yellow jacket colonies flourish during the summer and fall; they die off in the winter.” – Species Identification
PS – Always, “Know thine enemy first!” (Sun Tzu – Art of War). Don’t be a schmuck and go after ‘Europeon Hornets‘ like this fool did! Man, he was very lucky (see video).
“Some (Hornets) deliver just a typical insect sting, while others are among the most venomous known insects[1]. Allergic reactions can occur. Depending on the severity, these may result in death.“
