PS – Yah, my webserver was down for the past few days.. while I resurrected my PC from the proverbial dead. F@RK man.. I gotta ditch Windoze one day for good and switch to Linux or a MacOS. I keep threatening to to do it.. one day.. I just got to get around to it. Oh wait, perhaps a Mini-Dell 9 is in my future?

I’d like my ‘mini-hackintosh‘ with fries (to go) please!

Here’s To 5 Wasted Years!

December 31st, 2008 Ranger Bob No comments

I just realized today was the fifth anniversary of my Blog. In reviewing some of my past posts and rants, including the very first post here… yah.. I shore can waste a lot of time.

So, here’s to five more wasted years, and thanks for attending my “Church of Blawg” (mostly updated whenever the spirits motivate me to do so these days). I will keep preaching as long as I am above ground (see those things at the side, one of them will eventually do me in).

Speaking of alcohol, it’s time to go over to my neighbors house and make up some Monkey Brain Smoothies with the Magic Bullet Blender and ingest way to many more Candy Cane Shooters to see what colours we can spew up on their neighbors driveway this year. Yah, we both don’t like them very much. :)

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY, AS WELL TO ALL MY OTHER STALKERS ON THE INTERNET.

RB’s Friday Night Video Picks

And.. because we all need a little humor these days.. I’ll provide an example of something NOT to try during the Alberta Klave 2 uh-oh 5 (which would simply be a waste of good alcohol anyways).

KID’S PLEASE DON’T TRY THIS AT HOME! LOOK, EVEN RANGER BOB DOESN’T RECOMMEND THIS. PLEASE READ VERY CAREFULLY MY SIG LINE ABOVE FIRST!

Oops, apparently they already did (ahh to be young and stupid again). I’ll just bet they bought the booze with

RB’s Friday Night Video Picks

TGIF! If it wasn’t for all the funny videos I received in my email on this day (or any other day) I’d never make it through the work week. Here are two worthy clips to get things rolling so to speak, and I guarantee they’ll have you rolling around howling on your cubicle floor.

:: Bear + Tranqualizer + Trampoline = 3 Time The Fun! (Quite amazing footage actually!)
:: Life As A Guy! (Too true!)

And.. not to forget this new item today!

OMG!

Yup, I’m Still Alive & Kicking! Sorta, Kinda!

Grunt! Grunt! “I am still alive and well and have not been killed in some tragic accident involving alcohol, geekery, GPS, fire, water, and/or high voltage. Yet!” – RB

N53 35.152 W113 24.74 (Plus or Minus 2.5 cm), Phhhhzzt!

Well the Blog is officially one year older now, but are any of us the wiser for it? Only, time will tell.. and fire making season is still just around the corner.

Lessee, where to begin: I got totally ripped on Candy Cane Shooters again over at the neighbors place on New Years Eve. It only took me two days to recover and beg the porcelain gods (toilet, sink, and floor) for forgiveness. Yes, “The Monkey Brain Smoothies” made with my Magic Bullet Blender before going over were just a wee bit mind chilling indeed. ( I refer you back to January 2004 Blog for more insights here. ) Which reminds me to inform, you can now buy a Magic Bullet Blender of your own down at the local HBC Outfitters instead of direct ordering one from television (although you get two for 1 if you do order on-line I see now). I highly recommend them, a fun kitchen gadget but you have to wait about 6 weeks for delivery – worth the wait.

K, what’s next? Oh yeah, I’ve been visiting a “bone breaker” for the past 4 weeks (averaging 2 to 3 visits a week). My back was actually getting better at one point, up until last months hardwater fly-fishing trip. Seems a few of my lower-left “floating ribs” decided to float some elsewhere again (a hold-over from a five car “no-fault” TA that I was involved with back in April 2001 – and the matter is still before the courts). In a nutshell: they pried a 1978 GMC Jimmy outta my 1993 Dodge Shadow’s trunk that hit me dead on at 60 KM/HR while I was stopped, followed by a 3/4 Tonne Van into that, followed by a brand new Dodge Intrepid.. all of which shoved me forward into someone else (I’ll post the pics someday when I find them again).

Anyways, after today’s visit.. I was actually feeling human enough to sit down and Blog once more.

So, I’m back baby! *slap*

Now.. what to Blog about? Hmm.. how about the Tsunami. An unbelievable event indeed, and why didn’t I Blog about it sooner!? Well, I guess, because I tried to stay unglued from all the horror shown about it on television. After all, this event only took place on December 26th during the height of the holiday season. So, unlike many thousands of people abroad… I am TRULY glad to be STILL ALIVE AND KICKING! My aches and pains pale by comparison! However, all this made time spent with the family this year, that much more special to me.

These two satellite images here pretty much sum up the TOTAL devastation!

Anyways, I made a donation to the Red Cross a few days ago, especially with the Canadian Government matching dollar for dollar any amount you donate (*only until tomorrow January 11th*). Look at these photos once more, then decide how much you should contribute to the relief effort today.

Indeed it seems the event was Global enough in scale it actually moved the earth 2.5 cm off it’s axis, and caused the world to speed up in it’s daily rotation by about 360 millionths of a second (which will self-correct itself in about 100 days as the moon rotates around us. As for the axis thing, well that’s permanent!).

Yes, this single event has moved us in so many ways, physically and emotionally. Without any doubt I can honestly say it’s the most catastrophic thing I’ve ever seen in all my days above ground, and hope not to see the likes of ever again.

However, I can’t stop thinking that Vancouver, B.C. (and many parts of the Western Pacific Coast) are all living on borrowed time these days.

Bush Bashing Is Fun

January 28th, 2004 Ranger Bob No comments

Send Another “Bush” Postcard Today!

http://topplebush.com – What a wicked domain name, what a wicked site! Does the “Monkey” wanna go back into space? (Why Yes! Yes he does as announced today). About the only thing I’d give him credit for if it actually got funding.. but perhaps a little on the late side though to save him. Time will tell.

How to Fix NASA?

Newsweek – Jan. 28 – NASA has plenty on its plate these days: it must resolve the future of the space shuttle fleet and the Hubble telescope, monitor the health of its two Mars rovers, Spirit and Opportunity, and execute President Bush’s recent … (Or else send Arrowsmith to the Space Station! That’ll be good PR!)

2nd Version Of MyDoom Found (Hooray!)

Seesh, they can put a man on the moon… but they can’t stop SPAM and educate users about anti-virus software, and opening attachments from strangers. Yup.. priorities need to be addressed people. (Oops.. that would be “Future” Bill’s Dept.)

An online security firm said Wednesday that a new version of an Internet worm that appeared this week — MyDoom.b — could launch a second, larger wave of attacks with a new target.Kaspersky Labs said the variant could be more dangerous because it uses computers that are already affected.”

Just how much should we drink for a healthy life?

What the study failed to show was any increased risk from binge drinking, possibly because relatively few of the civil servants drank in this way. The results show no increased risk of death or heart disease in either men or women who admitted to drinking more than five units of alcohol per session
