“The end of an era…. sad news indeed!”

July 14th, 2009 Ranger Bob No comments

Klondike days has become Capital Ex, and now, to make things worse this will likely be the last year for the mine and panning troughs. Apparently, Northlands needs the space to make the horse track longer.

Edmonton is poorer for this turn of events. What theme does Capital Exhibition portray? What does it say about Edmonton’s past? (or future for
that matter) For as many years as I can remember the mine was the reason that I made my way to the exhibition grounds. The King of the Klondike competitions in other parts of Edmonton also were part of the Klondike experience. We are not sure what will become of the Klondike World Invitational Gold Panning Championships in the future, but this year should be a good one!

With this knowledge, I am going to make sure that I go and pan this year I hope you all will as well.

Sincerely,
Robin Rosborough

Damn straight this news makes me both sad, and angry at the same time.

Indeed, I will head out this year to go gold panning again all day long like I did last year here. After that, I guess I am done with “Condom Days” for good and will stick to my panning on the North Saskatchewan River for FREE!

My plunder from the mine last year.
